Talking about WCPN: No City Club Debate for Strickland and Blackwell (2006-08-24)

Out of Cleveland comes word that the City Club has dumped the major party candidates and cancelled their gubernatorial debate.  Why?  Because the major party campaigns were attempting to control EVERY aspect of debates.  The most troubling manipulations include audiences almost exclusively comprised by their supporters (a trick used nationally in the Presidential "debates").  The Republicans and Democrats refuse to appear on the same stage - or even at the same event with the two independent candidates who have earned ballot status despite each turning in over ten times the number of signatures required of major party candidates.  On November 7th, Ohioans will need to decide whether or not they want to elect manipulative career politicians with no economic experience, or expert economic leadership that believes deeply upholding the US constitution in the face of all threats - foreign and domestic.
